Drawing
After a long long time I decided to start drawing this autumn. I even joined a drawing class but went there twice. Instead I started sketching my own hands and feet. I prefer hands because you can express much more feelings with them. Feet are a bit boring.

Long time no volleyball
My squash game got cancelled today, so I went to Töölön Kisahalli to watch my ex volleyball team Naarasleijonat's game. Unfortunately they lost the match, but it was good volleyball. I was also honoured to be water girl and fill up the bottles.

Villa Terttula in the morning
I made a quick visit to friends' summer cottage. Morning was the most beautiful, but mushrooms were well hidden into the forest.

Sun in Brussels
I went to Brussels for a spring break and found out that it was almost summer down there. Highlights of the trip also include having a beer at the European Parliament, visiting Atomium and not getting robbed once.

What I left behind?
Changing job mean cleaning the desktop, computer, cell phone, e-mail etc. Sad but excited feeling at the same. Now thinking what I forgot and left behind.

Learning to surf – again
Next time I tried was at Manly Beach, Sydney in 2008. I had forgotten everything, but the great thing was to surf in sunny weather, since in England and Spain I had only surfed in winter time. Then in 2009 I went to Zarautz, Spain for two weeks, which was minimum time since the surf condition varied from totally flat to really really hard stormy waves. Over there I finally had time to learn the basic stuff again, and I was even able to force myself to go to the line-up bit big guys and take couple of real green waves, not just the white wash. Next year I went to Peniche, Portugal for four days, but yet again a year had passed and it took me all of that little time to remember the basics. Now 2011 I went to Australia again, and found a greatest spot in Crescent Head, and got few of the best waves so far. Also the first ever surf pics of me were taken there, in the one above I'm finally learning to curve back!
Even if I still suck at surfing, all of those trips have been the greatest and I'm still keen to go and learn more. Let's see where and when is the next time, but sure it'll come soon.

Coffee machine
www.bialetti.com
Buying a new coffee machine after previous one break isn't easy. Two weeks of going around different coffee-machine-super-markets and I ended up with this conclusion: coffee machines are ugly, big and ugly or big, ugly and hard to use. So after those two weeks I ended up having a long term relationship with this Bialetti beauty. We have been together for a week now and are very very happy.

Yes, it's official. It's winter now. And what it means? Cold, snow, white landscape and ugly clothing. Last saturday was the fourth Restaurant Day and Wannabe Ballerinas attended with After Ski hotdog restaurant. Yum yum but brrr brrr. I was wearing all my ski gear (I'm there in the middle looking smart and cool) and still was freezing out. It was -20 degrees or something. The rest of the winter I'll try and stay inside.

Guildford, Victoria, Australia
The Big Tree
The main reason for visiting this town is 'The Big Tree' at the intersection of Fryers St and Ballaarat St (it is suitably signposted off the highway). This truly remarkable and beautifully preserved red gum is thought to be the largest of its species in Victoria. The girth at the base is 12.8 metres and the height is 25.9 metres.
A plaque suggests that Burke and Wills camped beneath its generous umbrage on their journey from Melbourne to the Gulf of Carpentaria. Although this is apocraphyl Burke may well have been acquainted with the tree as he was superintendent of police in the Castlemaine district from 1858 to 1860 and would have been familiar with the terrain.

New year, new gear
Last year I wrote a little summary of what had happened that year, and what should I achieve the next year. Now's the time to check how I managed to achieve last year's goals and what are my new years resolutions.
In the year 2011 I will:
1) move into that flat (DONE! though the flat still isn't quite finished yet)
2) develop my programming skills (DONE! www.wannabeballerinas.com was launched)
3) keep those hobbies instead of starting new ones (FAIL! I got a skateboard)
4) Perform at some greater stage than Tavastia (DONE! Yupp, Flow festival, Sweden etc. quite a year)
5) Travel to another continent never visited before (FAIL! Went to Australia, and I've been there before)
In the year 2012 I will:
1) Learn something new
2) Still develop my programming skills
3) Become a better ballerina
4) Win something
5) Enjoy my life instead of complaining all the time
